چکیده

Based on a study of 1440 Swiss teenagers in 2003, higly complementary (instead of substitutive) relationships are found between the usage of various technical communication media as well as between media usage and face-to-face interactions. Males seem particularly prone to use all media channels in a complementary fashion. Among both genders, there is a particularly strong complementarity between the fixed and the mobile phone. When partners meet rarely, the communicate more by written than by oral media, particularly by SMS. By comparing older acquaintances with more recently created interpersonal relationships, it is found that the mix of media channels doesn't change significantly over time, except that the exchange of Short Text Messages declines. While to closeness of a relationship seems to be positively affected by the frequency of meetings and fixed phone calls, mobile contacts and Emails don't seem to make any consistent contribution.

Empirical Mode Decomposition based Adaptive Filtering for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Channel Estimation

This paper presents an empirical mode decomposition (EMD) based adaptive filter (AF) for channel estimation in OFDM system.  In this method, length of channel impulse response (CIR) is first approximated using Akaike information criterion (AIC). Then, CIR is estimated using adaptive filter with EMD decomposed IMF of the received OFDM symbol. The correlation and kurtosis measures are used to sel...

Design of Compact Multi-Channel Diplexer Using Defected Microstrip Structure

In this paper, two compact quad-channel and six-channel diplexer are designed and fabricated using defected microstrip structure (DMS). This structure is designed for the desired frequency based on the literature reviews. The proposed configuration is composed of a conventional T-junction divider with two pairs of open bended stubs and dual/tri-band filters. In designing dual band filters, a lo...

Changing mobility patterns and road mortality among pre-license teens in a late licensing country: an epidemiological study

BACKGROUND Whereas the safety of teens in early licensing countries has been extensively studied, little is known about the safety of pre-license teens in late licensing countries, where these teens also may be at risk. This risk exists because of the combination of a) increasing use of travel modes with a high injury risk, such as bicycles and mopeds, b) inexperience, and c) teens' development...
